Checkout.com appoints ex-Meta exec

UK payments platform Checkout.com has appointed ex-Meta executive Meron Colbeci as its chief product officer.

Colbeci, who joined the company previously known as Facebook in 2018, had been head of consumer product management at Novi, the BigTech giant’s cryptocurrency wallet service.

The executive has previously held roles at money app SoFi, PayPal, and NICE.

Checkout.com said Colbeci will oversee the company’s product management, product operations, and design functions worldwide.

Checkout.com said the move is part of the company’s broader executive team expansion – which includes the addition of a new chief financial officer, chief human resources officer, chief marketing officer, chief revenue officer, and chief technology officer.

The FinTech said the appointment marks a focus on its plans to continue enhancing its cloud-based service offering for enterprise-scale merchants around the world.

The news comes after Checkout.com closed a $450 million Series C funding round in January 2021, tripling its market valuation to $15 billion.

“At our core, we are passionate about the application of emerging technologies to solve real-world opportunities for enterprise merchants,” said Guillaume Pousaz, founder and chief executive at Checkout.com. “Meron’s experience as a close partner and customer at Novi - and his years with numerous other FinTech leaders - means he’s well-positioned to take our product efforts to the next level.”

He added: “I’m excited to partner with him as we push the boundaries of what’s possible.”
