Gohenry launches teen account

Family money app gohenry has released a new teen account and card for customers aged 13 to 18.

The account builds on the existing app, becoming an option when users move into the age bracket.

Teens will be able to have a salary paid into the account from any employer, with the ability to manage card security themselves with a block feature in case they lose their card, while parents can make use of additional controls to help their teens make the right money moves.

The teen account costs £2.99 per month, the same as any gohenry account, with a one-off cost of £4.99 for the matte black card.

“We developed the Teen account to help young adults continue to learn good money management skills at a period when they are seeking more independence in all areas of life," said Louise Hill, co-founder and chief operation officer of gohenry.

"The teen account helps 13 to 18 year-olds with the transition into adulthood – offering more freedom and features to suit their growing independence, while still having the safety net of being guided by their parents, when needed."

The company has also announced a partnership with Student Beans to give members access to exclusive offers and discounts on a range of brands teens know and love.

Launched in the UK in 2012, gohenry is a prepaid Visa debit card and app with parental controls designed for six to 18 year-olds.

Having since expanded into the US with Mastercard, gohenry is aiming to build a global movement of over one million users who believe that being good with money is a vital life skill.
