WorldPay and ClearBank founder Nick Ogden has joined the board of lending platform Funding Options as non-executive chairman.
Ogden is regarded as a pioneer in the UK’s FinTech and payments space, having founded WorldPay in 1997, followed by ClearBank, which became the UK’s first new clearing bank in 250 years.
He joins Funding Options, a business finance platform founded in 2012, after the company was selected as one of the winners of a £5 million grant from the RBS capability and innovation fund in June. It also expanded a partnership with Dutch bank ING for business lending in the Netherlands earlier this year.
Ogden will join Funding Options alongside investor directors Aaron Le Cornu, Alan Morgan and Jan Willem Nieuwenhuize.
“With the deployment and opportunities around Open Banking in the UK, we intend to deliver substantial new choice of services to many UK businesses, many of whom are still to understand the changes and choice that is being made available to them,” he commented.
“Open Banking doesn’t mean that bank branches will stay open longer but it guarantees that businesses will have easy and immediate access to a wide range of funding options.”
