Barclays hires Deutsche Bank's Woods as VC of industrials investment banking

Barclays has announced the hire of experienced banker Ian Woods as vice chairman of its industrials investment banking business.

Woods joins with over 20 years of investment banking experience from Deutsche Bank where he was most recently a managing director on the building products team. He has also held several senior positions within the building products teams at Jefferies, RBC Capital Markets, and UBS, and before that worked in industrials and transportation at Bear Stearns.

He has driven a number of notable transactions including Marjam Supply Company’s sale to Foundation Building Materials, AEA and BCI’s sale of Springs Window Fashions, Westlake Chemical’s acquisition of Boral North America, PGT Innovations’ acquisition of Martin Door, Clearlake Capital’s acquisition of PrimeSource and Dimora Brands, and Skyline Corp’s merger with Champion Enterprises.

At Barclays, Woods will be based out of New York and play a “a leading role in strategic dialogue and M&A advisory for key building products and distribution clients.”

Woods will report to John Lange, global head of energy and global co-head of industrials investment banking, and Spyros Svoronos, global co-head of industrials investment banking.

Lange said: “I am delighted to welcome Ian to Barclays. His long-established relationships in the Building Products and Distribution sectors together with his extensive transactional experience will generate significant value for our clients.
