Binance US CEO quits after 4 months

Brian Brooks has stood down as US CEO of troubled crypto exchange Binance after four months in post.

Brooks, who previously served a chief legal officer at Coinbase, announced that he would be parting ways with Binance as a result of “differences over strategic direction”.

In Twitter post on Friday Brooks said: “Greetings #crypto community. Letting you all know that I have resigned as CEO of ⁦⁦⁦@BinanceUS⁩ . Despite differences over strategic direction, I wish my former colleagues much success. Exciting new things to come!”

The move comes after the crypto exchange experienced a number of challenges from international regulators including the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), which banned it from operating in June.

Binance’s global CEO Changpeng Zhao last month described compliance as “a journey.”

In a public letter he wrote "We humbly welcome more constructive guidance to help us to grow better".
