ClearBank partners with Code First Girls

ClearBank has announced a new drive to actively recruit women coders.

The cloud-based banking platform is partnering with Code First Girls, the provider of free coding courses for women in the UK, to drive its recruitment efforts.

Code First Girls has already placed thousands of people into the tech industry, with the financial services industry the largest and fastest-growing proportion of Code First Girls’ client base.

ClearBank's partnership adds to Code First Girls’ existing collaborations with companies including Morgan Stanley, Lloyds, and NatWest.

Anna Brailsford, chief executive of Code First Girls, called the new partnership with ClearBank a fantastic means to help them recruit women coders into their team.

“There is currently a worrying gender gap, with many women facing significant barriers to entering STEM careers, starting at school and continuing throughout their lives,” she said.

Tom Harris, chief technology officer at ClearBank, said the partnership was a positive way of championing diversity in its workplace.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Code First Girls on this initiative, helping to get more women and non-binary people into technology roles at ClearBank,” he said.

Last year ClearBank “reached profitability” with more than £45 million in revenue.

It now provides services to more than 200 financial institutions, including recent partnerships with Raisin, and Kroo. The bank said it now manages around 17 million bank accounts with £3 billion held in balances.
