CleverCards taps Edenred for new COO

Global digital payments platform CleverCards has appointed Ray Brash as its new chief operating officer.

Brash brings with him over 30 years of experience in the payments and financial sector, with a particular focus on the European FinTech landscape.

Prior to joining CleverCards, he was co-founder of Dublin-headquartered FinTech Edenred Payment Solutions for 18 years, holding a range of positions including chief financial officer and chief executive.

There, he focused on strengthening and accelerating the FinTech’s strategic growth, launching a range of platform integrations for major FinTech firms like Revolut, Monese, TIDE and Virgin Money.

During his time at the firm, he also designed and delivered new payment solutions including Meal Vouchers, Employee Benefits, Incentives, Virtual Supplier Payments, Payroll and Fuel Cards in over 30 countries across Europe, the Middle East and South America.

Prior to that, Brash held financial director positions at well-known firms including UBM Tech and The Economist.

He started his career in 1998 as senior auditor and insolvency at PWC.

Chief executive at CleverCards said the move highlights the firm’s commitment to scaling its platform and solidifying the firm’s presence in the global payments space.

“Brash’s extensive industry experience and proven track record in driving growth and innovation make him the ideal leader to help us execute our vision and achieve the next level of success.”

On joining CleverCards, Brash remarked: “I am excited to be able to work for a business which puts the customer first rather than just the technology.”

The Irish-headquartered company has been experiencing growth since its launch in 2023, onboarding over 13,000 businesses directly with 450,000 users across 92 countries.

In June, CleverCards announced an €8 million capital raise which will be used to accelerate its expansion efforts and support the company’s growth.
