Crypto.com gains EMI licence from FCA

Cryptocurrency platform Crypto.com has been awarded an electronic money institution (EMI) licence from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

The FCA first approved the company’s registration as a cryptoasset business in August 2022.

With the EMI authorisation, Crypto.com said it will offer a range of products aimed at the UK market which comply with FCA guidelines on consumer protection.

“The UK has and continues to be a hugely important market for our business and the greater industry,” comments Kris Marszalek, CEO of Crypto.com. “We look forward to continuing to collaborate with a global regulatory leader in the FCA in our collective pursuit of responsible innovation for crypto.”

The company added that it has several licences and approvals which allow it to operate around the world in countries including the US, France, Canada, Singapore and South Korea.

In June this year, the company received a Major Payment Institution (MPI) Licence for digital payment token services from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
