DBS makes it easier for customers to go green

Singapore bank DBS has launched LiveBetter, a platform that helps customers live more sustainable lives.

They can access eco-friendly tips, donate to local green causes, as well as invest in sustainability-themed funds.

The platform is available to all DBS/POSB customers in Singapore via the bank’s digibank app. By January 2022, LiveBetter will also have an autonomous carbon calculator, one that automatically generates carbon footprint profiles and insights based on customers’ spending patterns.

In addition, the bank is developing a function that will enable customers to purchase carbon credits to offset their carbon footprint.

Findings from a DBS consumer sustainability survey, which was conducted in July 2021 among over 1,000 Singapore adults, found that 73 per cent were willing to change their lifestyle to live more sustainably, but only if it was “convenient for them”.

And 33 per cent cited having difficulties finding the right channels to learn about sustainability.

Jeremy Soo, head of the consumer banking group at DBS, said: “Climate change impacts all of us and we believe everyone has a role to play in building a better world.

“By embedding LiveBetter into DBS digibank, our customers can now easily access ways to live green with a few simple taps.”
