Danske Bank has announced a new multi-year cloud contract with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
The bank said that the move would help scale its company-wide technology transformation strategy.
The new initiative aims to drive greater use of cloud technology, data, and AI to speed up the development of new customer solutions, deliver more self-service options, and provide "easy and quick" access to daily banking services.
The bank will also use artificial intelligence and generative AI services from AWS to help improve internal developer productivity, create conversational interfaces, provide personalised recommendations, and gain insights from customer interactions.
Frans Woelders, chief operating officer of Danske Bank said that rolling out new technology would also enable the bank to both give employees the opportunity to upskill and attract prospective talent.
“We are and continue to be a leading bank in a digital age, and therefore we are investing significantly in digitalisation and technology to provide a better banking experience and drive operational efficiency," continued Woelders.
As part of the deal, the Danish bank’s infrastructure, applications, and data will be migrated to AWS. Its plans include migrating over 16,600 virtual and physical servers and more than 1,000 applications from its private cloud to AWS.
Danske Bank said that it would provide AWS training to more than 1,500 employees and embed cloud skills into management courses to speed up cloud adoption.
