Debbie Janeczek joins ING

ING has announced the appointment of Debbie Janeczek as its new chief information security officer (CISO).

Janeczek will take up her new role at the Amsterdam-headquartered bank on 13 January 2025.
Janeczek joins ING from international payment network Swift, where she has held the role of chief security officer since August 2023. Prior to this, she spent two years working at Wells Fargo as a technology executive and has also held roles at American Express and cybersecurity firm Twilio.

In her new role, ING said Janeczek will focus on keeping the bank secure and safeguarding the trust of customers.

She replaces Henrik van Bruggen, who was acting as interim global CISO in addition to his role as global head of tech strategy & enterprise architecture.

Janeczek will report to Daniele Tonella, ING’s global chief technology officer and member of the management board banking.

Last month, ING launched a new digital tool that aims to provide a real-time credit assessment of customers and suppliers, with a particular focus on leasing companies, suppliers, business lessors, and credit insurers.

CheckAhead generates credit scores based on transaction and balance data within two minutes, with the goal of driving more efficient credit ratings and lower administrative burdens.
