FStech stages successful RegTech Live 2025 conference

FStech’s RegTech Live 2025 conference, held on February 27, 2025, was a resounding success, bringing together industry leaders, regulators, and technology experts for a day of insightful discussions on the evolving landscape of regulatory technology.

Taking place in London, the event featured an impressive lineup of speakers and panel discussions covering key issues such as AI governance, digital operational resilience, and the future of open banking.

The conference commenced with a keynote address by Arunita Roy, technical lead in the transforming regulatory data collection programme at the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Roy highlighted the FCA’s role as a data-driven regulator and outlined advancements in regulatory technology that are reshaping financial services. She emphasised the importance of safe data management and the innovative tools available to financial institutions through the FCA’s transforming data collection programme.

Following the keynote, Josephine Roy, global head of regulatory developments and engagements for payments at J.P. Morgan, took the stage for a fireside chat with FStech. She explored the challenges and opportunities of regulatory transformation in the payments sector, addressing the acceleration of real-time payments and the evolving regulatory landscape.

A key highlight of the day was the panel discussion on the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA), which took effect at the start of 2025. Experts from Zurich Insurance, Riskonnect, and Nationwide Building Society discussed the first month of DORA compliance, offering insights into how firms are adapting their resilience frameworks to meet new regulatory demands.

The agenda also featured a thought-provoking session on leveraging generative AI and large language models (LLMs) for regulatory compliance, led by Marina Antoniou of the ICAEW financial services board. The discussion underscored AI’s growing role in financial crime compliance, particularly in areas such as anti-money laundering (AML).

Later in the day, a panel sponsored by Pure Storage tackled the complexities of AI regulation, with experts from Kroo Bank, the Bank of England’s prudential regulation authority, and Pure Storage debating strategies for ensuring transparency and accountability in AI-driven financial services.

The conference concluded with a keynote from Henk Van Hulle, chief executive of Open Banking Limited, who examined the future of open banking in the UK, including the impact of the Data (Use and Access) Bill and its role in shaping the government’s National Payments Vision.

Reflecting on the event’s success, FStech editor Jonathan Easton said: "RegTech Live 2025 has demonstrated just how critical regulatory technology is in ensuring compliance, fostering innovation, and driving financial stability. The discussions today have provided invaluable insights that will help shape the future of compliance in financial services.

"As financial services continue to evolve, RegTech Live 2025 reaffirmed the industry’s commitment to navigating regulatory challenges through technology and collaboration."

Looking ahead, FStech invites industry professionals to its next major event, The Future of FinTech, taking place on June 12 at the Hilton London Tower Bridge.
