FStech stages successful Future of FinTech 2024

On Thursday, FStech staged a highly successful Future of FinTech conference, bringing together leading experts and innovators in financial technology to discuss the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities shaping the industry.

The conference kicked off with an insightful keynote from Saira Khan, Head of Innovation and Partnerships at First Direct Bank, who explored the importance of fostering a culture of innovation to drive positive disruption.

As FStech Editor Jonathan Easton, the conference chair, outlined in his opening remarks that the aim of the day was to "discuss the existing and emerging challenges for the sector along with the technological innovations providing opportunities for growth and long-term sustainability."

Key topics covered included building next-generation banking solutions, leveraging data and AI for regulatory compliance, and harnessing conversational AI like ChatGPT for personalised investment advice. Nida Sattar from Allica Bank shared insights on their cutting-edge Business Rewards Account, while Professor Philip Treleaven of UCL delved into the transformative potential of ChatGPT in wealth management.

Several insightful panel sessions took place during the conference. A "Building the Bank of the Future" panel brought together speakers from Zopa Bank,Lloyds Banking Group, Allica Bank, and SaaScada to discuss strategies for modernising legacy systems while enabling innovation. The "Regulation Ready" panel featured speakers from Grant Thornton UK, InterSystems, BNP Paribas and NatWest exploring the use of data to transform regulatory compliance. Additionally, a panel on "Transforming FinCrime and Compliance" with speakers from ACAMS, OakNorth, SmartSearch and Domestic & General Insurance examined leveraging intelligent technologies to meet regulatory obligations.

Easton emphasised the conference's aim "to have you come away with a greater view of the disruptive technologies and solutions shaping the industry, and having engaged in enlightening discussions on the latest developments in finance and its intersection with technology." The event delivered on this promise, leaving attendees inspired and better equipped to navigate the rapidly evolving FinTech landscape.
