GoCardless opens access to global payment network

GoCardless, the direct bank payments provider, has launched a new integration for third party payment providers to access its global bank payment network and conduct bank-to-bank payments.

GoCardless Embed allows payment providers to integrate GoCardless’ global bank payment network into their platform through an API.

The new offering will initially allow bank payment schemes in the UK, Eurozone and US, with more to come in the future, GoCardless said.

Adopters will also have access to end-to-end payment processing capabilities for bank-to-bank payments including reconciliation, mandate management, reporting and refunds, and Open Banking-powered features including account verification and fraud prevention.

“We’ve spent the past decade optimising bank payments and bringing them into the digital age,” said Hiroki Takeuchi, co-founder and chief executive of GoCardless.

He continued: “Now, for the first time, we’ve created a product to open up access to our unique network and we’re excited by the positive reactions so far."

The development of GoCardless Embed follows the company’s recent acquisition of Open Banking data provider Nordigen.

At the time, Takeuchi said the acquisition would “take us to the next level”.
