Helen Bierton leaves chief banking role at Starling to join Lloyds Bank

Helen Bierton has announced that she taken up the role of everyday banking director at Lloyds Banking Group.

On LinkedIn, Bierton said she had left her position as chief banking officer at Starling, where she had worked since November 2019.

Prior to joining Starling, Bierton worked at Santander for around nine years where she held various roles including director of products and head of current accounts. She also chaired Santander’s internal women’s network, leading a team that supported more than 3,200 women.

Bierton has also worked at Abbey National, Alliance & Leicester and started her career at the NatWest Group.

Away from banking, Bierton competed in the competed at the Olympic Games in Athens in 2024 as part of the British archery team after finishing her studies at Loughborough University.

"I am delighted to have joined Lloyds Banking Group as Everyday Banking Director,” wrote Bierton. “I am really looking forward to working with my new colleagues across the group, and to working together to continue Helping Britain Prosper."

Last year, Bierton was involved in launching Starling’s virtual cards. The card works like a standard debit card for payments but is linked to a ‘saving space’ in the bank’s app, instead of the main account balance.
