Lloyds Banking Group has confirmed that Jayne Opperman, chief executive of its consumer lending division, is leaving the bank as it restructures its retail banking operations.
The bank told FStech that it is merging its consumer relationships and consumer lending businesses into a single division, serving more than 28 million customers as part of its Accelerate 2030 strategy.
Jas Singh, who currently leads consumer relationships, will lead the new combined department. Opperman will remain with the bank until the end of 2026 to support the transition.
Lloyds said the new structure is intended to create a simpler, smarter and more connected organisation by bringing together its customer data, digital capabilities, and frontline expertise to deliver more personalised banking services.
A Lloyds Banking Group spokesperson said: "Customers increasingly expect personalised experiences, seamless journeys and support that reflects every stage of their lives and, to meet those expectations, we need to bring more of the banking experience together.
"That's why we're creating a single Consumer business, to more closely connect the scale of our data, the power of our digital platforms and the expertise of our colleagues in ways that help us anticipate customer needs, personalise experiences and support better financial outcomes."
Opperman spent a total of 12 years working at Lloyds over two periods. Over the past four years, Lloyds said she had helped transform both the consumer relationships and consumer lending businesses, strengthened performance, developed talent and played an important role
in shaping the future direction of its retail operations.
Prior to working at Lloyds, Opperman also worked in a variety of senior roles at Barclays, Citi, and Westpac.
