Lloyds first UK bank to launch in-app travel booking

Lloyds Banking Group has launched a new travel booking service on its mobile app in a UK-bank first.

The new service, powered by travel tech platform Hopper, enables customers to book flights and accommodation worldwide.

Once a customer has booked, they can keep track of their trips directly in the Lloyds app.

“We knew we wanted to make it easier for our customers to organise their trips from beginning to end and bringing Lloyds Travel Booking to the app is a great solution," said Tamara van den Ban, managing director, customer propositions, Lloyds Bank.

The move follows the roll out of several travel-related products at the bank, including foreign exchange (FX) and travel money services, breakdown cover for travel in the UK, and travel insurance.

The bank also has a travel hub in its mobile app where customers can find out more about its travel products and services.

Last summer, the bank announced that its packaged account customers would be able to use their debit cards abroad for no fee.

Silver and Platinum account customers can now use their card free of charge, anywhere around the world.

Silver accounts cost £11.50 a month, while platinum users are charged £22.50.
