Nationwide Building Society has partnered with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) to adopt a private cloud.
Using HPE GreenLake technology, Nationwide expects to reduce its IT cost base by at least 30 per cent, as the consumption-based system prevents overprovisioning and allows Nationwide to pay only for the capacity it uses.
The partnership will enable Nationwide to deploy a hybrid cloud strategy, improving its operational resilience, ensuring compliance, and providing a better digital experience for its customers.
Nationwide’s IT team will automate and orchestrate infrastructure management and deliver infrastructure as code, which Nationwide says will enable them to focus on innovation and gain better control over application builds and security.
The technology will also enable faster release times to market while providing a consistent customer experience across all digital platforms.
Nationwide began its digital transformation in 2018 to ensure it was ready to adopt new digital innovations, including different cloud environments for various types of data and workloads.
“In today’s world, our customers expect us to deliver an always-on service while providing new, innovative features that help them better manage their finances,” said Paul Walsh, Director of Infrastructure & Service Delivery at Nationwide Building Society. “Nationwide’s hybrid cloud strategy is vital to our ability to compete and means we can continue to meet the needs and expectations of our customers.
"We’re building a cloud platform that will further improve our resilience and agility, enabling us to provide even better levels of service and deliver new capabilities to our developers faster than ever before.”
