Santander poaches new head of digital consumer bank from PayPal

Santander has hired Nitin Prabhu as global head of digital consumer bank.

Prabhu joins the bank from PayPal, where he has worked for 12 years, most recently as head of product small and medium size businesses (SMBs) and financial services.

Santander’s Digital Consumer Bank is a global consumer finance provider, combining three interconnected businesses: auto financing, consumer lending, and Openbank. It operates in 26 countries in Europe and the Americas, serving 25 million customers as the point of sale.

In his new role, he will be responsible for the auto and consumer business globally as well as Openbank.

Nitin will join the bank early in 2025, subject to regulatory approval, and will be based in Madrid, reporting to the group executive chair.
