TSB opens technology hub in Edinburgh

TSB has opened its new technology centre in Edinburgh, Scotland, following the recruitment of 100 staff.

The technology centre has been created as part of a £120 million investment to transform the bank’s digital channels.

The facility, based at TSB’s George Street headquarters, houses technical specialists, data engineers, analysts and other IT experts to develop and deliver “innovative services” for 5 million customers across the UK.

The new team has already built the digital infrastructure needed to deliver the government's Bounce Back Loan Schemes, and has assisted in the setup of the bank’s large-scale remote working operation, which has been “pivotal” through the pandemic and as staff now return to the office in a new hybrid model.

TSB CEO Debbie Crosbie said: “Launching the TSB technology centre builds on our long history in Scotland. Customer demand for new digital services will only increase and this new investment will ensure we are well placed to meet that demand.”

Scottish government economy secretary Kate Forbes added: “The recruitment of 100 staff and TSB’s commitment to Edinburgh further underlines Scotland’s position as a world leading financial services, data and technology hub.”
