Tandem bank appoints head of ESG

Tandem bank has appointed James Streeter as Head of ESG to support its green strategy, the company has announced.

In the newly created role, Streeter will set the bank’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy, take responsibility for Tandem’s green policies and targets as well as ensuring ESG is fully integrated into Tandem’s products.

Streeter has worked in sustainability for his entire 25-year career. He has held a variety of roles at companies including global energy firm and food producers. He also chairs the Sustainable Wine Roundtable and sits on the Board of Trustees for InterClimate Network.

Tandem said Streeter will be based in London and will build up a wider ESG team.

The company claims that over 68 per cent of its loan book supports green initiatives and none of its investment funds fossil fuels.

“James is a renowned expert in sustainability,” said Alex Mollart, Tandem’s chief executive. “We’ve been working with him as a consultant to develop our first ever ESG Report, and I’m delighted we’ve been able to convince him to join Tandem’s greener journey.”

He added: “He’s one of the first to have an entire career in sustainability and I’m delighted we can bring that wealth of expertise into the team. Being green and responsible is at the heart of our business. James will play a crucial role in helping us maintain that while also building out other exciting commitments and steps towards helping our customers have a greener lifestyle.”
