Tech vacancies at London financial services firms ‘soar 88%’

The number of tech vacancies at London financial services firms has soared 88 per cent year-on-year.

The figures from the recruitment firm Robert Walters looked at the monthly average vacancies of all of the months in 2023 compared to the first four months of 2024.

The report found candidates with FinTech and cybersecurity experience were the most sought-after.

In addition, the report found that in the past 12 months, the number of tech professionals moving into financial services jobs increased by 24 per cent in the UK.

“The tech talent pool within financial services speaks volumes – banks are hiring experience and intelligence, the kinds of professionals that are adept at creating, implementing, managing, delivering new tech infrastructure,” said chief executive of Robert Walters UK, Chris Eldridge.

The news comes despite the fact that FinTech investment has fallen, with investment in the first quarter of 2024 falling by 16 per cent to $7.3 billion, according to research by CB Insights.
