Wells Fargo bolsters tech team

Wells Fargo has appointed Bridget Engle as senior executive vice president and head of technology.

The company has also promoted Tracy Kerrins to head of consumer technology. In her new role, Kerrins will lead a new generative AI (genAI) team which will be responsible for the adoption of the technology across Wells Fargo.

Engle joins the firm on 12 August from BNY Mellon, where she served as senior executive vice president and chief information officer from 2017 until earlier this year. Prior to this, she served in several roles at Bank of America, including as the chief information officer of consumer banking as well as chief information officer of global banking and markets.

Engle will report to Charlie Scharf, chief executive at Wells Fargo and join the company’s operating company.

“Bridget is a proven technology leader with deep experience leading large-scale technology transformations across multiple global financial institutions,” Scharf said. “We have made great progress under Tracy’s leadership and Bridget’s experience will be invaluable as we continue to modernise our platforms and invest in, scale, and increase innovation across the company.”
