Wise and Google join forces to simplify international remittances

Wise has joined a new remittance initiative by Google as it looks to improve the international money transfer experience for US users.

As part of the move, Wise’s services – powered by Wise Platform – will be accessible via Google Wallet or by searching for currency exchange rates on Google Search alongside other payment providers including Ria Money Transfer and Xe, which also joined the initiative.

Wise Platform, the enterprise arm of Wise, is designed to help banks, financial institutions, and large enterprises offer fast, low-cost international payments directly within their own products, currently supporting international payments for major institutions like Morgan Stanley, Standard Chartered, Brex and Ramp.

The Google-powered remittance experience will enable users in the US searching for international payment solutions to compare and send money via select providers including Wise, Ria Money Transfer and Xe.

After joining the experience, Wise consumers will be able to see the fees and transaction speeds offered by each provider, with the service aiming to enable a more transparent and convenient experience.

The feature will be rolled out in a trial to Google users in the US, and will initially support high-demand remittance corridors such as USD (US), INR (India), PHP (Philippines), MXN (Mexico), and BRL (Brazil), to compare and send money via select providers.

Lauren Langbridge, commercial director for Wise Platform, emphasised the importance of remittance experience for consumers.

“Sending money abroad is a routine necessity for millions of people and businesses, but it’s not always easy for customers to find the right provider,” she explained.

The commercial director added that the partnership aims to enable fast and reliable international payments for more users across the US, empowering people to make the best choice based on their needs.
