WooCommerce expands BNPL checkout payment options

Open-source e-commerce platform WooCommerce has expanded its Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) checkout options for UK merchants through an expanded partnership with Affirm.

Affirm is a BNPL platform that offers flexible financing options for online and in-store purchases, including Pay in 4, allowing customers to spread payments over time instead of paying upfront.

With the move, UK-based merchants using the WooCommerce platform will be able to integrate Affirm and offer their customers a wider range of customisable payment options at checkout.

Eligible customers will be able to select across a range of different customised plans.

The integration marks an expansion of the partnership between WooCommerce and Affirm, which began in 2015.

It follows Affirm's launch in the UK in November last year, as well as an expansion of the partnership between the two companies in North America the following month.“This expansion is part of our ongoing effort to give merchants the tools they need to meet the evolving demands of customers looking for the widest range of purchasing options,” said Web Griebel, head of payments at WooCommerce

Independent bed retailer Bedworld, one of the UK businesses planning to offer Affirm through WooCommerce, welcomed the initiative and emphasised in a statement that choice and flexibility are essential keys to provide an improved checkout customer experience.
