Mettle chief exec joins blockchain business NEAR

Marieke Flament has been appointed chief executive of the NEAR Foundation.

The NEAR blockchain is a permissionless, proof-of-stake carbon-neutral blockchain designed to be super-fast, secure, and scalable.

Flament is currently the chief executive of Mettle, which was launched in 2018.

Mettle is a free mobile account by NatWest, designed to help small businesses start their own businesses and targeted at sole traders and limited companies with up to two owners.

Flament trained as a computer engineer and has worked across the globe across a range of companies including LVMH of Louis Vuitton, Boston Consulting Group, Expedia’s Hotels.com, and crypto company Circle.
