Viva.com launches real-time settlement and offline payments

Greek neobank Viva.com has launched two new features aimed at simplifying business operations across the EU.

The Athens-headquartered bank has introduced a real-time settlement feature which it says gives its merchant customers “near-instant” access to funds while also shortening the settlement of transactions to one hour compared to its previous next-day settlement scheme.

Its new offline payments feature minimises merchants’ chances of losing a sale due to network connectivity issues or disruptions, automatically allowing card-present transactions to be accepted, even if a merchant is unable to connect to a network at the point of sale, it said.

“The last thing a business wants is to be waiting for funds to come through on a sale that’s already been completed, or worse yet, missing out on a sale due to network connectivity issues,” said Kostas Xiradakis, vice president of product and growth at Viva.com. “Near-instant payments, 0 per cent transaction fee options and the possibility to complete sales under even the most challenging connectivity conditions are in-house-created features specifically designed to support our merchants, no matter their size or location.”

Viva.com also recently launched a tap to pay on iPhone feature through its terminal app, enabling UK merchants to benefit from an “easy, secure and private way” to accept contactless payments with their iPhone.
