BICS partners with Bancontact Payconiq

International communications platform BICS has partnered with Belgium company Bancontact Payconiq to add multi-factor authentication to its mobile payment app and enhance the level of security.

Customers will be verified through an SMS code sent to their mobile when they log into the app to protect against threats such as account break ins.

The company said this feature is powered by short code numbers instead of full mobile numbers as they need to be approved by mobile operators and are unavailable to scammers.

Bancontact Payconiq recently launched a new version of its app to provide and claims the update makes it easier for users to make payments.

The company claims it is one of the most popular payment methods in Belgium, with around 275 million payments made through the app and usage increasing by 800 per cent over the past five years.

Divya Ghai Wakankar, vice president of enterprise market at BICS, said: “Our collaboration with Bancontact Payconiq Company speaks to the changing demands of today’s customers for businesses.

“Modern enterprises need reliable communications now more than ever for supporting areas such as marketing, operations, security, and ensuring all-around great customer experiences. At BICS, we’re on the forefront of simplifying things for both parties, and this exciting partnership with Belgium’s leader in electronic payments is a great achievement to show how far we’re going.”
