Mollie launches in-store payments terminal

Dutch FinTech Mollie has announced the launch of a new a physical payments terminal.

Mollie Terminal, which will initially be available to merchants in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany, is the latest addition to its existing in-person payments support which uses QR codes.

The new terminal functions through a single API for online and in-person payments. Using 4G WiFi, merchants receive the device pre-configured so they can start accepting payments immediately, the company said.

Merchants are also able report, reconcile and settle all processed payments using Mollie Dashboard, thereby eliminating any traditional paper-based ‘close of day’ tasks.

Mollie also shared that it plans to launch Tap to Pay for Android devices later this year.

“Mollie Terminal is an important milestone launch and a critical part of our in-person payments offering, further strengthening our position in the unified commerce payments market,” said Mollie chief executive Koen Koppen. “With our customers' high regard for Mollie’s online proposition, we are delighted to be able to meet the needs of customers offline too.”

Mollie recently expanded into the Buy Now, Pay Later market and partnered with Plaid to offer Open Banking services.
