The German broker and digital investment platform Scalable has made its platform accessible to AI agents, allowing customers to optimise their portfolio and analyse markets with third-party AI offerings.
Scalable Agentic Investing allows customers to connect an AI agent to their account via model context protocol (MCP), an open-source standard that is commonly used to link AI tools to external data sources.
Once connected, Scalable said agents can monitor a customer’s account for changes such as price alerts, buy and sell automatically on their behalf, and produce visualisations based on their financial data.
Scalable suggested customers could also prompt agents with commands such as "export my transactions in crypto ETPs from the 2025 calendar year in CSV format” to help prepare taxes.
The firm said the offering is compatible with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Codex, as well as Anthropic’s Claude and xAI’s Grok. It added that “compatible local agents” can also be connected, while additional third-party agents may be supported in future updates.
Scalable said the new features make it the first European bank to embed AI in this manner.
Erik Podzuweit, founder and co-chief executive at the firm, told Reuters that this was a first step towards rolling out AI across Scalable’s app.
"A lot of people might still be hesitant to let ChatGPT look at their portfolio, manage their portfolio,” he said. “So I think that it's a first step."
In addition to the added support for agents, Scalable Agentic Investing also allows developers to access their accounts via command line interface (CLI). The company said this could be useful for controlling one’s account via advanced automation and custom scripts.
The connection of financial data to AI tools via MCP is a growing practice across the sector. In October, London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) and Microsoft announced the next stage of their partnership would bring live LSEG data to agents in Microsoft Copilot Studio via MCP.
